Character and Curriculum

Character Development

At Ambleside Stawi, we believe that education shapes the whole child—mind, heart, and habits. More than academics, true learning is about forming character and relationships that prepare children for life.

Character Development

Together with parents, we nurture growth in three key areas:

  • Relationship to Self – Building habits of attention, imagination, order, responsibility, truthfulness, and thoughtful reasoning.
  • Relationship to Others – Learning respect, healthy conflict resolution, teamwork, service, and leadership.
  • Relationship to Knowledge – Developing curiosity, perseverance, comprehension, and the ability to engage deeply with ideas and communicate them clearly.

We weave these qualities into the daily life of the school, not teach them in isolation.

Our Curriculum

We design our curriculum to be:

  • Our Curriculum
  • Ambleside Stawi offers a curriculum that is broad, rigorous, and internationally relevant.
  • Comprehensive – Students study core subjects (math, literacy, science, history, geography) alongside arts, music, and nature studies.
  • Balanced – The program alternates between developing skills (reading, writing, problem-solving) and mastering content knowledge.
  • High-Quality Resources – We center learning on ‘living books’ and rich materials by the best authors, ensuring depth rather than diluted content.
  • Engaging & Practical – Lessons connect to real life through discussion, projects, and observation, ensuring students don’t just memorize but understand and apply knowledge.

This approach prepares children not only for exams but also for thoughtful, lifelong learning.

At Ambleside Stawi, we offer a curriculum that balances play-based discovery in the early years with a rigorous academic pathway in later years, ensuring children grow in confidence, character, and capability.

Kindergarten (Ages 3–6): Inspired by Froebel

  • Rooted in the principles of Friedrich Froebel, the father of Kindergarten.
  • Emphasis on play as purposeful learning—through songs, movement, storytelling, and creative hands-on activities.
  • Development of foundational habits: attention, imagination, neatness, order, and joy in discovery.
  • A nurturing environment where children learn through nature, play, and meaningful relationships.

Primary Years (Year 1–8): IGCSE Pathway Rooted in a Charlotte Mason approach

  • Broad, rich curriculum based on living books, nature study, and hands-on experiences.
  • Children learn to narrate, reflect, and engage deeply with knowledge instead of rote memorization.
  • Strong focus on character development and habits of responsibility, truthfulness, and respect.
  • A gradual shift into the Cambridge curriculum, while retaining Ambleside’s emphasis on curiosity, reflection, and independent thought.
  • Rigorous preparation for IGCSE exams (Year 11) and A-Level studies (Year 12–13).
  • We equip students not only with academic mastery but also with critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills—preparing them for global opportunities.
